Pantech Vega Xpress comes with DDR2 memory, extravagant performance claims

Pantech ‘s bringing a new wrinkle to the mobile hardware space with its newly announced Vega Xpress handset. This 4-inch Android 2.2 beastie will come equipped with an unspecified amount of DDR2 RAM — yes, the stuff that usually goes into x86 laptop and desktop computers — which Pantech will have you believe is going to blow the competition out of the proverbial water.

Walgreens now selling $100 Maylong M-150 Android tablet

Kmart may have been the first department store to get into the cheap Android tablet business , but it looks like Walgreens isn’t about to stay out of this race to the bottom — it’s now offering the Maylong M-150 Android tablet for a mere $100. As you can see above, it’s pretty much the tablet of your dreams.

Sharp Lynx SH-10B is a MIDdling Android smartphone we could get behind (video)

Sharp’s NTT DoCoMo -living / Android-loving Lynx SH-10B isn’t brand new by any stretch — it hit local markets in late July, and earlier this year was released on KDDI as the ISO1 — but this week’s CEATEC would be the first time we’ve had a chance to play around with, and given the dearth of comparable US form factors, we couldn’t resist. The 5-inch 960 x 480 resolution MID / smartphone sports a pretty snappy and easy-to-use keyboard and a responsive touchscreen. Unless you’ve already prepared for the likes of Dell’s Streak, the Lynx isn’t exactly pocketable, and by our estimates, it’s about twice the thickness o the iPhone 4 when closed up

ViewSonic MB-P702, the color e-reader and HD video player you didn’t yet realize you needed

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and the same usually goes for tablets. But in the Great Venn Diagram of slate form factors, the ViewSonic MB-P702 seems to hover around the intersection of tablets and e-readers. It’s got a 7-inch 800 x 480 resolution touchscreen LCD display and functions as both an e-reader and a movie player — but not, as far as we can tell, an internet-based experience

Sharp shows off mobile prototype with 3D screen, 3D camera, and 3D output

We’ve seen enough home theater 3D already to be well and sick of it, but mobile 3D is still an upcoming sector, one which Sharp seems to be making a bid for. It’s showing off a mobile device prototype (it looks like it could be your friendly neighborhood carrier’s next Android handset) with a glasses-free 3D parallax screen (akin to the tech used in the Nintendo 3DS ), a 3D camera around back, and 3D output over HDMI. The result isn’t stellar — just because a mobile device is shooting grainy, color-bleeding footage in 3D doesn’t make the footage stop being grainy and color-bleeding — but it most certainly works, as we witnessed both on the device’s own screen and on a regular glasses-required 3D TV the prototype was outputting to over HDMI

Mimo’s 720-F USB-driven touchscreen monitor gets down with VESA mounts

Ah, Mimo . It has been far, far too long since you’ve tossed out another product to appease our need for more pixels in every situation, and frankly, we couldn’t be happier to see that you’re back.

DXG’s 3D View sacrifices HD, but makes 3D video recording pocketable

It’s not a trade that we’d ever willingly make — dropping to standard definition for the sake of some 3D shenanigans, but DXG is offering you the choice anyway. The budget cam maker has just announced its 3D View stereoscopic shooter, which interestingly comes with a separate 7-inch LCD display (800 x 480 resolution) for playing back your recorded footage without requiring glasses — thanks to some parallax barrier magic.

The other guy is up for pre-order at $399.99, though you’ll get an 854 x 480 resolution output with either.

Sanho crams 640GB of memories into your pocket with HyperDrive Album photo viewer

Photo viewers have been around for centuries (give or take a few score ), but few have offered the capacity and speed found on the HyperDrive Album. Produced by none other than Sanho — the same dudes and dudettes responsible for those spectacular HyperMac batteries — this here device is essentially a 640GB pocket hard drive meant to suck down photos from your SD or CF card (it plays nice with both formats) as you shoot; it can either lighten the load on your memory card or act as on-site backup, and it’s reportedly capable of downloading 2GB per minute with full data verification.
