Xbox co-creator brings together Atari ‘dream team’ for mobile gaming startup

A new mobile gaming startup that’s yet to release a single game isn’t the sort of thing we’d normally cover ’round here, but the story behind Los Angeles-based Innovative Leisure is anything but ordinary. The man behind the company is the co-creator of the Xbox, Seamus Blackley, and he’s brought with him eleven industry veterans that he calls “the dream team from Atari,” including the likes of Van Burnham, Ed Logg, Rich Adam, Tim Skelly, Owen Rubin, and Ed Rotberg.

Squid is a shirt that keeps an exercise journal so you don’t have to

Wearable fitness trackers are everywhere these days. Everyone has a GPS watch , companies like Jawbone have turned to slightly stranger form factors, while AT&T and Under Armour are putting sensors inside clothing. Students at Northeastern University think the latter have the right idea, and have put an array of electrodes inside a compression shirt.

T-Mobile updates FamilyWhere location tracking service for worrisome parents

It was never intended as such, but The Rolling Stones’ song Under My Thumb could easily pass as the anthem of overbearing parents across the globe. Now, T-Mobile is tossing its paranoid constituents a bone with an updated version of its FamilyWhere lineup. First onto the platform is FamilyWhere Check In, a free app that lets kids manually send their location to family members, which is delivered as a web link within a text message

We knew that the Boxee desktop app’s days were numbered , we just didn’t realize how numbered. It was only the day after Christmas that we learned version 1.5 would be the last to ship for Linux, Windows and OS X. Now, with January coming to a close, its life is officially being snuffed out

Steam beta journeys to Android and iOS, for select invitees

Our friends at Joystiq are members of a privileged club of which we are not. We’ve both downloaded and installed the mobile version of Steam — now available as a free beta download for Android and iOS — but where they found Mac and PC games for sale, along with the ability to chat with friends, browse profiles and read gaming news, we were greeted with red text that states our accounts are not part of the beta.
