Mitsubishi Blu-ray players have BDXL, 3D support, and a two-faced remote

We don’t want to slight these three new Blu-ray players from Mitsubishi — they’ve got all the latest features that the kids are clamoring for, like 3D Blu-ray , BDXL , AVCREC, and VOD support. However, sometimes accessories are the most fascinating part of a product, as seems the case with this dual-faced remote — not entirely unlike the ones we’ve seen from Samsung and Boxee

Toshiba finally dives into Blu-ray 3D with BDX3100 player, offers up BDX1100 if stereo’s not your style

Seems like Toshiba bit off more Blu-ray 3D than it could chew this year — the Japanese firm’s just announced that the new BDX3100KB will be its first set-top stereoscopic player, never mind the BDX3000 it announced at CES . Still, we’re willing to forgive and forget if the new machine (replete with DivX and MKV playback, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround, and instant playback of AVCHD footage from connected camcorders) makes it stateside sometime soon — both it and the relatively boring BDX1100 standard Blu-ray unit are presently slated for a UK release (at unspecified prices) in October of this year

Intel HD graphics to support 3D this summer, 30 more WiDi laptops on the way

Intel’s integrated graphics are about to get a stereoscopic shot in the arm this summer. Although the Computex presentation today wasn’t clear on whether it would come in the form of a firmware update or all-new hardware, we’re being promised the ability to watch 3D movies straight off Blu-ray discs. Mind you, the GMA HD graphics aren’t aimed at competing with NVIDIA’s 3D Vision or any other heavyweights, not least because they’ll be relying on polarized lenses to generate that extra sense of depth.

James Cameron sees Avatar on Blu-ray 3D in November, HDTV manufacturers mark their calendars

Fox has been slow to show its hand concerning the Avatar home video release schedule, but that didn’t stop director James Cameron from spilling assorted dates and SKUs in a Wall Street Journal interview. He’s pegged a standard DVD & Blu-ray release for April 22, with a special edition DVD and Blu-ray 3D version arriving in November. Considering how much electronics companies have invested in bringing 3D to market this year and specifically Panasonic’s push to make Avatar a box office smash the timing seems right on target
