Motorola Xyboard 8.2 WiFi-only model streaks through FCC, reveals little

Remember that Motorola Xyboard 8.2 WiFi-only model that just went on sale ? Well it just paid a visit to our friends at the FCC who promptly tore it down and took a few shots — you know — in the name of science . The pictures show the main board, the front and rear camera modules, various flex cables, the rear housing and display chassis, the battery, the capacitive digitizer and screen, the speaker and both antennae (WiFi / Bluetooth plus GPS)

Scosche cellControl locks your device while driving, tattles on your text habit

Trying to keep the points off your record, but just can’t resist the urge to tweet, text and talk behind the wheel? Maybe it’s time you gave up on that whole “self-restraint” schtick and leaned on technology to keep your cellular inhibitions in check. Scosche’s cellControl might do the trick, it pairs bit of bluetooth-enabled automotive hardware with a feature-blocking smartphone app to keep your handset under lockdown when you’re on the go.

Matias Tactile One, SlimOne hands-on (video)

We already covered the announcement of the new Matias tactile-keyboards but couldn’t resist descending into the show floor in order to get a quick hands-on with the Canadian-made kit. The USB-powered boards contain a Bluetooth module and a physical button (with a blue LED) that you can switch between typing on your desktop and wirelessly to your device. The “Island-Style” SlimOne replicates the look and feel of the current Apple island-keyboard, but with scissor keys, which pleasantly resist your fingers

The options for Samsung Galaxy Tab speaker docks are a bit limited, especially if you’re looking to make use of the micro-USB port instead of a Bluetooth connection. Earlier this year, iLuv outted its iMM514 for Sammy slates, enabling you to jam some Kelly Clarkson and charge the device at the same time

Motorola Smart Controller now available for $99, drive your Xyboard without holding it (video)

We first caught wind of Motorola’s wireless pointing device, the Smart Controller, back in October when we played with a small army of Droid RAZR accessories. Whilst paired with phones, the Bluetooth remote control also moonlights as a handset that can receive and make calls, thanks to a dedicated call button on its backside

Samsung Smart Interaction gesture controlled HDTV demo (video)

Samsung revealed some of its 2012 HDTVs would include a built in camera and mic to enable a feature it calls Smart Interaction, which is just a brand name for voice and gesture control. We stopped by the company’s massive CES booth today and squeezed between all of those 55-inch OLEDs to get a quick demo, and found it mirrored the suddenly common Kinect functionality we’ve become accustomed to closely. Like Microsoft’s add-on, Samsung’s setup has a keyword that activates it (Hi TV) and like the recently upgraded Xbox 360 dashboard , there has been a lot of work done to make sure it recognizes many real words.

Parrot reveals Starck-designed Zik Bluetooth touch-activated headset, Zikmu Solo wireless tower speaker (hands-on)

Parrot’s AR.Drone 2.0 may have been one of the more joy-inducing wares we’ve seen here at CES, but that was yesterday. Today, we dare to say that that one of two audio devices just unveiled (and designed by Philippe Starck , we might add) has our jaw dropping, and our ears tingling — the absolutely gorgeous Zik Bluetooth touch-activated headset, pictured above. The Zik’s loaded with goodies — Bluetooth connectivity, active-noise cancellation, NFC and touch controls on either earcup, not to mention its jawbone and “presence” sensors among a few other notable tidbits like its DSP-enabling app that adds a “concert-type” vibe to its sound
