Apple reportedly swapping recalled iPod nanos for 6G counterparts; you have yours?

It’s been a few weeks since Apple’s issued a worldwide recall on a number of its first-gen iPod nanos at risk for becoming uncomfortably hot under the collar . Evidently, many folks who’ve sent their devices into AppleCare to get swapped are finding that they’ve being treated with an upgrade to the current sixth-gen variant.

TED: Homaro Cantu + Ben Roche: Cooking as alchemy – Homaro Cantu / Ben Roche (2011)

Homaro Cantu and Ben Roche come from Moto, a Chicago restaurant that plays with new ways to cook and eat food. But beyond the fun and flavor-tripping, there’s a serious intent: Can we use new food technology for good?

Nothing has been completely settled yet, but here is an outline of our plans, reasoning, and links to more information and where you can get involved in the discussion

AT&T flips 4G LTE live, nearly 97 percent of America wonders where the party is

According to Ma Bell, AT&T covers 97 percent of all Americans. Of course, that’s including those “one bar of EDGE” places that are uncovered so far as reality’s concerned, but regardless of all that — there’s no denying that AT&T’s LTE launch is on the subdued side. With Verizon rolling out five times more LTE markets this month than AT&T is even launching with, the country’s largest GSM carrier definitely has some catching up to do.

Researchers developing software to finger phony reviews

Opinion spam isn’t a new version of your favorite meat treat, repackaged for discerning canned ham consumers. According to a team of researchers at Cornell University, it’s a growing problem affecting user generated review sites, and the gang is working to stop it dead in its tracks with a new program that’s aimed at tracking down fake reviews . That software, which has been tested on reviews of Chicago hotels, uses keyword analysis and word combination patterns to bust opinion spammers — fakers, for example, use more verbs than their truth-telling counterparts
