Russian space probe crashes in Pacific Ocean, fish reportedly startled

On the plus side, the fish needed additional space probe parts. On Sunday night, fragments of Russia’s Phobos-Grunt probe landed in the Pacific Ocean 1,250 kilometers to the west of Wellington Island in southern Chile around 17:45 GMT. The probe, which experienced a failure with its launch rocket machinery on November 8, had become marooned in Earth’s orbit, destined to crash back home.

Chile becomes first country to guarantee net neutrality, we start thinking about moving

Net neutrality : you want it, we want it, ISPs pretty much hate it . Chilean politicians? Those guys love the stuff! The Board of the Chamber of Deputies voted almost unanimously to to pass Bulletin 4915 which, among other things, forces an ISP to: …ensure access to all types of content, services or applications available on the network and offer a service that does not distinguish content, applications or services, based on the source of it or their property.

Many World Cup Players Banned from Social Media

For continuous World Cup coverage, check out Mashable’s 2010 World Cup Hub , which will be updated throughout the games. During this year’s FIFA World Cup games in South Africa, players on several competing teams will be unable to tweet, poke, buzz, checkin, like or in any other way make their presence known on the social web. It’s not uncommon for coaches to ban sex or alcohol during the World Cup, but increasingly, they’re also instituting ad hoc bans on social media sites, including Twitter.

HOW TO: Donate to Chile Earthquake Relief Online

If you’re looking to pitch in to the relief effort for Chile after this morning’s massive earthquake, we’ve gathered some of the web’s best channels for humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts. Twitter Helps Find Missing Family Member After Chile Earthquake

A woman in Chile was able to track down her missing sister-in-law today thanks to the help of a fellow Twitter user.
