Squid is a shirt that keeps an exercise journal so you don’t have to

Wearable fitness trackers are everywhere these days. Everyone has a GPS watch , companies like Jawbone have turned to slightly stranger form factors, while AT&T and Under Armour are putting sensors inside clothing. Students at Northeastern University think the latter have the right idea, and have put an array of electrodes inside a compression shirt.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus car dock lacks three-pin connection of its HSPA twin, requires manual micro-USB connection

While Verizon customers are happily lording it over their HSPA-bound counterparts with those LTE speeds , they may be less happy to hear about the lower-grade car dock they’ve been saddled with. Setting you back $40, the dock is a protective bracket for your phone that attaches to your windscreen with a suction cup. However, the GSM version includes the Galaxy Nexus’ three-pin contacts, with micro-USB and mic ports built into the dock, meaning there’s no need to constantly plug and unplug — unlike the US model

JVC shows off projectors with 4K precision, but not quite 4K pixels

JVC first brought 4K home with its $175k DLA-RS4000 and now it’s back with four new models with greater than HD resolution at much easier to swallow prices. You’ll note the term used is “with 4K precision”, because strictly speaking these don’t project over 4,000 pixels of horizontal resolution, coming in at a still impressive 3,840 x 2,160 resolution.

Archos 80 G9 and 101 G9 hands-on (video)

So, so many tablets this week at IFA. Archos’s pair of Honeycomb slates may not have garnered the same sort of excitement as, say yesterday’s Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 or Toshiba AT200 , but there are a lot of interesting things going on with the 80 G9 and 101 G9 . From an aesthetic standpoint, these are pretty nice looking devices (the 80 and 101 look largely the same, save for the difference in footprint and screen size), though they’re not quite on-par with the two aforementioned tablets, in terms of build

Nokia N9 arrives at FCC, opened up to see where all the MeeGo comes from

That most heavenly hunk of MeeGo , the Nokia N9 , has passed through our government’s most holy of hallways, delivering full external and internal photos to show us what’s happening at every level. If you had any doubt this will be a world phone, tests confirming quadband 2G and pentaband 3G (2100/1900/1700/900/850 MHz) should put those to rest, while 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi spread over 2.4 and 5GHz means it’ll be quick to download the goods around the house. Models with 16 and 64GB are shown, though squint all we could we couldn’t count the difference on the teardown pics, which you can enjoy for yourself in the gallery below.
