DingleBerry breaks PlayBook free from RIM’s chains (again), Android Market access makes a comeback

To root or not to root? For savvy PlayBook owners running beta 2.0, that should no longer be a question. With the recent release of DingleBerry , users comfortable with command lines have been enjoying superuser privileges on the slate, but the fun could’ve been short-lived.

LetterBomb does game-free Wii hacking for System Menu 4.3

The myth of the unhackable Wii has long since been put to rest , but that hasn’t stopped intrepid homebrew enthusiasts from coming up with new exploits. Case in point: LetterBomb. This particular Wii hack is a follow-up to BannerBomb, which was billed as a replacement for Twilight Hack — all of which are capable of launching the homebrew channel sans hardware mods

Caribou Android app opens doors over the internet, needs neither permission nor keys (video)

Opening doors with wireless RFID cardkeys is old hat at this point, but opening those doors with a smartphone is rather more intriguing. Doing so without permission of the people who put the locks on the doors, well, that brings things up to a whole new level of awesomeness. That’s what Caribou does, a little Android app that remotely connects to a server managing the locks at a supposedly secure location

iPad 2 jailbroken, no ETA on public release

You knew this was coming — it was only a matter of time — and here it is, Apple’s latest creation sans the iOS 4.3 chains. The development community credits @comex with installing Cydia on this white iPad 2 , and he’s apparently already hard at work on a public jailbreak.

Safari and IE8 get shamed at Pwn2Own, Chrome still safe… for now

Ahead of the most recent Pwn2Own , Google made a rather proud challenge : it’d pay $20,000 to any team or individual who could successfully hack Chrome . Two takers signed up for that challenge — and then both backed down. One individual didn’t show up and a second entry, known as Team Anon, decided to focus their efforts elsewhere
