New LED flash controller promises to give floodlight brightness at cell phone size

Still looking forward to a world where cell phone cameras don’t suck? So is STMicroelectronics , and it hopes to hurry along a photogenic future with the help of a new supercapacitor -powered integrated camera flash. STCF04, the outfit’s new integrated camera flash and torch controller, gives its LED flash module over 40 Watts of power, reportedly allowing it to give off the same level of brightness as an outdoor security floodlight — handily blinding your friends and family with each merry burst of the bulb.

NetLED WiFi-enabled, app-controllable, LED light tubes come to Japan

Because deep down, all you’ve ever really wanted are smartphone adjustable WiFi-LED light tubes controlled by a remote server out in the ether. Snarkiness aside, that’s exactly what Japan’s Net LED Technology Corporation has done with a lighting system it lovingly calls NetLED. The setup isn’t for frugal types as, before even purchasing lights, you’ll need to plunk down 60,000 yen (around $780) for a netLED router that serves as an intermediary between those fixtures and the company’s remote server.

Eyes-on with Energizer’s LED lighting solutions and USB chargers at CES 2012

Energizer doesn’t get much coverage here at Engadget, primarily because those AA cells you see at the Walgreens checkout counter haven’t changed much throughout the years. Every now and then, however, there are special events such as CES , where the company that keeps going and going trots out its latest products for techies to fawn over. This year, we got to check out its lineup of USB power solutions designed for the home and automobile, along with a very handsome set of LED lights

Who Needs Pixels When You Have Six Million LED’s to Light Your Display?

LED televisions until now have generally just used an LED power source to light the LCD display. This differs from the Jumbo-trons you see at sports arenas, where each pixel is an individual LED

LED Figurine is a Rainbow of Light

The LED Figurine looks a bit like those small wooden mannequins that artists use to sketch poses but it’s really a very flexible desk lamp. If I’m interpreting the product-speak right, the head and hands each have a different primary color LED; red, green and blue
