AT&T unearths Jim Henson’s 1963 Robot short for Bell

AT&T has released some real gems from its videos archives over the past year, but it’s truly outdone itself this week. It’s dug up a rarely-seen short film titled Robot that Jim Henson made for Bell in 1963, which was intended to explain computers and data communications to business owners at “elite seminars.” It does so with phrases like “Correction: the machine does not have a soul.

DIY Vacuum Forming Machine

Thanks to James Bruton from xrobots.co.uk for sending in this DIY Vacuum Forming Machine project that he made. He is creating some props from plastic and a vacuum form is one way to get consistent plastic forms of the wooden objects he has already created

Midwest Engineering Robotic Bottling Line

Midwest Engineering in Pewaukee Milwaukee has put together a great video showing the robotic technology they implemented for this Robotic Bottling Automation Line to allow it to go from bins of raw goods to a finished product. I am curious how many man hours are needed to keep this machine humming away. I think I would enjoy programming this type of equipment until a customer needed an Automatic Chicken Breast Deboning Robot built !

Ask Engadget: best gaming mouse for first-person shooters?

We know you’ve got questions, and if you’re brave enough to ask the world for answers, here’s the outlet to do so. This week’s Ask Engadget inquiry is coming to us from Alex, who seems to be sick and tired (but mostly sick) of doing poorly in deathmatches due to a troublesome mouse. If you’re looking to send in an inquiry of your own, drop us a line at ask [at] engadget [dawt] com .

Digital Storm’s Ode Is a Desktop Gaming Powerhouse for Those Too Lazy to Build Their Own Machine [Gaming]

Many geeks prefer to build their gaming PCs, not just because it’s cheaper, but because it’s an extension of their own gaming alter-egos.

New Egg-Bot Designs

Having a cool tool like a CNC machine is great but unless it can make something that looks fantastic it is as valuable as a paperweight. The Egg-Bot is a interesting machine which has a limited functionality since it is designed to draw with markers on Eggs (or egg shaped items).
