Panasonic adds Lumix DMC-TS4 and DMC-TS20 to ruggedized camera line

Panasonic has helped lead the market for ruggedized cameras, which have been a hit among adventurous photographers for years, and now the company has two new additions to add to its water/shock/freeze/dustproof cam line. Described as “the optical outdoor companion,” the Lumix DMC-TS4 is Panasonic’s new ruggedized flagship, replacing the TS3 and packing a 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor, 1080/60i HD video capture, a 4.6x 28-128mm optical zoom lens and 2.7-inch LCD

WiGig SD card gets demoed on tablets, makes DVDs gone in 60 seconds (video)

We’re pretty excited about WiGig ‘s miraculous wireless transmission rates and Panasonic’s now in the process of jamming the functionality into SD cards set to arrive next year. It’s now got a working prototype and DigInfo ‘s managed to grab a brief video demo (embedded below) showcasing the tech.

Panasonic intros a pair of 12.1-inch Let’s Note Laptops

Panasonic Japan’s quirky range of chunky Let’s Note laptops has swelled by a factor of two, thanks to a pair of 12.1-inch units ousted today. The stock models come with a 1280 x 800 display (extra cash will get you a 16:9 1600 x 900 screen with a built-in 720p webcam). By default, you’ll get an Intel Core i5 2450M chip, USB 3.0, WiFi (and WiMax!), Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, HDMI-out and on the SX edition, an optical drive.

Olympus looking to Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and others to solve its money problems?

Olympus has had a rough go of it lately, what with a $1.7 billion accounting scandal that implicated its management on the highest levels and resulted in the company suing its own executives and president for fraud. Now, Reuters reports that the company in a financial pinch and may partner up with Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Fujifilm or Terumo Corp. to get the cash it needs.

Panasonic unveils Infinite Black Ultra Panel plasmas for 2012 (eyes-on)

The leader in plasmas TVs keeps stepping up its game with 16 new 3D models for 2012 and one lonely 2D set. At the top of the line is the VT50 series — 4 is unlucky in Japan — featuring the new Infinite Black Ultra Panel with blacker blacks then the 2011 VT35 and 24,576 steps of gradation, which should provide more detail in dark scenes. It’s too early to tell if this will officially dethrone the king of blacks , but we were able to appreciate the improved performance in a side by side demo
