Amazon, Viacom deal brings more TV shows to Prime Instant Video service

Just as rumors indicated yesterday , Amazon has announced a new licensing deal with Viacom that will add TV shows from its networks — MTV, Comedy Central, BET, VH1, Spike, Nickelodeon and the rest — to the Prime Instant Video service. There’s still no word on any potential spinning off of the all-you-can-eat video portion from the rest of Amazon’s Prime membership program, but it does bring the count of movies and TV shows available to around 15,000, up from the 13,000 cited recently .

Samsung Galaxy Note available at AT&T February 19th for $300, pre-orders begin February 5th

We’ve known for a while that the Samsung Galaxy Note was coming to AT&T sometime soon, but now we actually have a date: February 19th. If that day just isn’t going to come soon enough, there’s a way to get it delivered two days earlier — the carrier’s offering a pre-order option beginning next Sunday, and your February 17th delivery is promised as long as you click that “order” button by the 15th. Just as predicted, the device will be available for $300 with a two-year commitment

Far more svelte than its lengthy product name, the Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V is Sony’s new point-and-shoot flagship, packing an 18.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, 26mm 5x optical zoom lens, 1080/60p video capture and a 3.3-inch Xtra Fine TruBlack OLED touchscreen. Sony claims that the cam’s BIONZ processor can help it capture stills and video with extremely low noise, and an improved focusing system can deliver speeds of about 0.13 seconds in daylight and 0.25 seconds in lower-light conditions

Whispers that Microsoft’s MIX conference was on life support have just proven true. Redmond confirmed on its blog that the yearly web-centric conference will no longer be held, as it refocuses its efforts on larger and more broad platform-centric events, much in the vein of last year’s BUILD . Following its pull-out from CES , the company muses focusing on less events means it’ll maximize the effectiveness of its engineers and the press alike
