While Samsung waits to debut its take on the Google TV platform, LG is already showing off its hardware, including a new remote control. For LG’s part, it has decided to blend the QWERTY needs of a Google TV controller with its existing Magic Motion remote gesture control and scroll wheel technology. The result is a decently well balanced dual-sided remote with relatively simple controls.

After Vizio gave the world a preview of its PC and tablet plans it also announced plans for new HDTVs and a couple of set-top boxes, so we couldn’t resist traveling back over to its Wynn-based lounge to view the beasts in their natural habitat. We won’t make too much of it, but if you read last year’s hands-on preview , unfortunately much of this is similar, as we mentioned when they were announced — much of this tech was originally planned to ship in 2011

LG whipped out the magic wand at CES this morning, with the announcement of an enhanced Magic Remote . With this new tool, users will be able to control their Cinema 3D Smart TVs with an expanded set of functions, including voice recognition, a “wheel” function, “magic” gestures and pointing.

We happened upon Parrot’s outdoor AR.Drone corral at CES and this signage immediately caught our eyes. Parrot AR.Drone2.0 Fly – Record – Share: is this an all-new device or a firmware bump that adds some new functionality? The social media aspect of the poster is pretty self evident — and might be accomplished with a device firmware upgrade — but we’re kind of hoping for a new Drone with better cameras, speed, battery life, and while we’re listing things, a dedicated remote control wouldn’t hurt a bit.

We’re still waiting for Time Warner to bring its live TV streaming to Android, but the platform is enjoying some exclusive support today with two new apps. The first is the My TWC account management app which lets subscribers view their services, pay bills, adjust call forwarding and, soon, tap into their voicemail remotely. The other one is a new version of its TWC TV app, reformatted to work on phones even while the TWCable TV app on iOS is still a tablet only affair.

Directly on the heels of an update for its newest media streamers , Roku has released its official iPhone remote app. Apparently “inspired by user feedback”, it allows users to launch or rate channels, control the box with touches and swipes, and add or remove channels from their box directly from the app itself.
