AT&T unearths Jim Henson’s 1963 Robot short for Bell

AT&T has released some real gems from its videos archives over the past year, but it’s truly outdone itself this week. It’s dug up a rarely-seen short film titled Robot that Jim Henson made for Bell in 1963, which was intended to explain computers and data communications to business owners at “elite seminars.” It does so with phrases like “Correction: the machine does not have a soul.

VGo telepresence robot gets Verizon LTE, we go eyes-on (video)

The idea of a telepresence robot isn’t exactly new in the tech world, considering there’s been a few going to school in the place of teenagers for over a year now. But the VGo ‘bot — a chest-high roving device that has a display and camera built-in and allows patients and others to interact with a remote operator — is at CES this year to show off its inclusion of Verizon LTE , instead of the WiFi-only model we’ve seen in times past

The Military’s Robot Eyes

If something terrible happens at your job, you might file a TPS report later than your boss would like or maybe people on the internet would run out of things to read. If something terrible happens at a bomb tech’s job, they might get exploded. A tragedy if it’s a human being

EZ-Robot releases build-your-own kit, realistic Cylons due any time now (video)

DJ Sures’ homemade Wall-E was the beginning of his project to bring personal robotics to the masses: thanks to his company, EZ-Robot. The startup sells kits that let you retrofit that Teddy Ruxpin doll in the garage into a fully-functioning killbot. $235 will buy you a wireless controller, ultrasonic distance sensor, wireless tracking camera, three standard servos, two continuous rotation servos, battery pack and software that’ll let you control the bot without having to learn to code.
