Samsung draws in developers with S-pen SDK for Galaxy Note

Ever since the mighty Galaxy Note first popped up at IFA we’ve been curious about that S-pen and how it’ll make its way into our real-life workflow. Samsung promised there’d be an SDK back at its October London launch and it’s finally here, letting developers get busy adding some S-pen magic to their apps. Version 1.0 lets you add a basic canvas, a pop-up for pen settings (opacity, line color and so on) as well as erase and un/redo.

CyanogenMod founder joins Samsung Mobile, promises to make Android ‘more awesome’

We already knew Samsung loved the guys at CyanogenMod , but we didn’t think they’d start absorbing parts of its development team. According to Steve Kondik’s Facebook page, the Android facade’s head sculptor is setting up shop at Samsung Mobile. Sammy’s new software engineer told his fans that although his ‘side project,’ CyanogenMod, is not affiliated with his employer in any way, he will be “working on making Android more awesome.” Makes sense, we heard Samsung’s phones were looking for a fresh coat of awesome

Samsung pulls controversial Anymode Smart Case, says it never received certification

The Anymode Smart Case for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 may bear a suspicious resemblance to Apple’s iPad 2 Smart Cover , but Samsung insists it had absolutely nothing to do with it. In a blog post published today, the company responded to allegations that it tried to market a Cupertino rip-off, claiming that the accessory never received official “Designed for Samsung Mobile” certification. Samsung went on to point out that none of the cases have actually been sold, while confirming that it’s “working with Anymode to address this oversight.” In the meantime, the contentious Smart Case has been removed from Samsung’s site, meaning we can finally return to leading healthy, productive lives.

Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T ratted out by its own HDMI dock

Oh, we’ve been fairly certain for a while now that we’d see the sexy Samsung Galaxy S II saunter on over to AT&T, but now we’ve attained what appears to be the first official photo of the handset. Samsung’s Singapore division has a series of professional shots of planned accessories, including this “Samsung Galaxy S II Desktop Dock,” a handsome pyramid stand sporting HDMI and 3.5mm stereo-out jacks — and of course, an AT&T logo on its comfortably cradled smartphone. We’re still not quite sure when Samsung’s flagship will hit the US, but it had better get a move on — we’re slated to see a Galaxy S III by this time next year, after all

Sprint’s been playing the all-encompassing Eco-Friendly card for some time now, and it looks as if last year’s Restore (now available on Virgin Mobile USA for $79.99 off-contract) is gaining an ultra-green sibling.

AMOLED shortage to become a surplus in 2011

Samsung’s beautiful Super AMOLED panels are becoming more and more common in mobile devices, but they’re not as common as they could be if there were more of the things flying out of Samsung Mobile Display factories.
