Could LG’s Fantasy be an outright Miracle?

If you ask us, miracles are pretty hard to come by, and it would take a great amount of gusto for a smartphone manufacturer to bestow such a weighty name upon a rather middling handset. The crew at Pocketnow claim that’s exactly what LG’s done with its latest Windows Phone , however, which was previously known as the Fantasy . That’s right, folks, you’re looking at a purported Miracle — weren’t you expecting more?

Nokia ends European, Mexican production: it’s all Asia now (Updated)

Nokia’s wielding another axe to its operations, cleaving away a further 4,000 employees from its operations in Finland, Hungary and Mexico. It follows a shedding of roughly 10,000 employees and a troubled withdrawal from Romania as the company pushes more operations towards Asia in an attempt to compete with its competitors . Whilst no more phones will be assembled in Europe, the company isn’t closing the facilities outright, they’ll be retained for “high value activities” (presumably R&D and other big-ticket projects)

Elevate aims high, agrees to become Sprint’s newest MVNO

Another MVNO is going live on Sprint’s network, and this time Elevate is the one signing the dotted line. The company, known primarily for providing digital services such as VoIP, wireline and wireless broadband in 22 markets across the country, is now aiming to expand its portfolio by using the Now Network to provide both postpaid and prepaid mobile plans for its customers. While we’re still waiting to hear the specifics, Elevate mentioned that it will feature Android and “Windows-based devices.” The MVNO will also be leveraged to support the company’s Smart Home automation service, taking advantage of a new app that will give customers remote access to all aspects of their home security systems.

NPD: iPhones recover market share in Q4 2011, but Android draws the first-timer crowds

According to the latest research from the NPD group, Apple has got its second wind in smartphone sales. In the same quarter that saw the iPhone 4S reinvent the wheel obey our every vocal whim, the trio of available models soaked up a total of 43 percent of the US smartphone market in Q4 2012, apparently knawing away at Android’s market share of 53 percent held during the rest of 2011

Nokia Lumia 800 White hands-on

Today’s been all about the white phones , and Nokia’s new Lumia matches that glossy finish we saw on its near-identical twin, the white N9 . Here, opposing the matte goodness of the rest of Lumia 800 family, the unibody shell has an almost-enamel feel on what we’ve heard is still polycarbonate material.

Nokia confirms white Lumia 800, shipping without pigment this month

Nokia does love teasing us with its albino-hued special editions, and so it did with the white Lumia 800 back in December. Now that phone is following the color-free road to retail later this month. Other than the eye-pleasing lack of color the phone looks to be identical to its rather more chromatic predecessors, with a 3.7-inch AMOLED display up front and a 1.4GHz processor inside
